A Letter From Pastor Correy

John 16:13-14

13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
From a very early age (4-5yrs old), I specifically remember church having a profound influence on my life. At that time, I had a father who abused drugs and alcohol and we lived in a not so good neighborhood in the city, “the hood”. I couldn’t articulate it at the time, but dysfunction was my reality which had become normalcy. However, the day my mom took my sister and me to church, our family had an encounter that was LIFE changing! We experienced God’s LOVE from people and this started me on my own journey to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ as a kid. I absolutely loved church and God because it was fun, I knew people cared about me there, and they always had the best snacks during kids church (kool-aid and lemon cookies were my favorite, lol). A Letter From Pastor Toni

1 John 3:1-3

3 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

I remember at a very young age thinking “How did I get here?”, “Where did I come from?”, and “How was I not here in one moment, and then here in the next?” Those recurrent thoughts would be so overwhelming to my 4-year-old mind that I would have to stop thinking about it!

I’m so grateful that my parents decided to send me to a Christian school during my elementary years! I went to First Church of God Christian School in Toledo, Ohio where I was born and raised. It was at that school that I learned about God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The seeds that were planted there have been life-changing! I wish I could say that I gave my life to God during that time, but my life afterwards says otherwise.
